Description
The elegant bottle contains a 12-year-old distillate aged in oak barrels, created from hand-picked Muscat grapes from the sun-drenched semi-mountainous slopes of Samos.
Before distillation, the wine is fortified to 18-24% ABV, and this mixture is then distilled to produce an alcohol with a very characteristic bouquet.
After the initial aging period, the method discovered by Spyros Metaxas is applied. Six months before bottling, on its way to the blending vats, the brandy traditionally passes through a filter layer of herbs and spices, including rose petals. This blend is a secret formula and gives the brandy a complex characteristic aroma of rose blossoms, black pepper, bay leaf, and cinnamon.
The next stage is the blending of the brandy with Muscat wine from Samos and Limnos, which takes place in huge barrels.
The wine is pre-aged for at least two years, and in addition to changing its color, it is infused with the typical Muscat wine aroma of frankincense, nuts, spices, and flowers, acquiring a sweet, rich, and full taste. This mixture is then placed in 3,500-liter barrels to blend and mature further.
