Twelve Year Old Aberlour matures in two types of barrels. Traditional oak and sherry oak barrels. Specially selected each year, they are filled with whiskey and quietly aged for at least twelve years; then the barrels are combined together.

Traditional oak barrels contribute to the development of Aberlor's subtle character, while sherry oak barrels add hints of ruby gold color and a deep and rich aroma of whiskey. Perfectly balanced pure malt whiskey with hints of fruit and spices.

Founded in 1879, the Aberlour Distillery is located in the village of Aberlour in the heart of Speyside, the country's main whiskey production region, known for producing whiskey with soft depth and elegance. Aberlor is a historic place and its history dates back more than a thousand years. In the distant past, the valley was inhabited by a Druid community. The Druids valued oak trees and water and believed they could hear water spirits talking to each other. Aberlor is a Gaelic word meaning "the mouth of a bubbling stream." Water and oak are still at the heart of Aberlor's label.
