Description

Château Figeac is located in the northwest of the Saint-Émilion appellation, with vineyards adjacent to those of Château Cheval Blanc. Its 40 hectares of vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 35%, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 35%) lie on a deep, Médoc-like gravel topsoil over an iron-rich subsoil. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats, and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in 100% new oak barrels for 18-22 months. Ideally, the wines need at least 10 years of bottle aging to show their best potential. Château Figeac is classified as a 1st Grand Cru Classé (A), according to the Saint-Émilion classification of 2012.
