Description
The romantic medieval Tuscan town of Montalcino is surrounded by hills and dense forests. The soil, altitude, and varied terrain make Montalcino the ideal home for the Sangiovese grape variety and the region's illustrious wine, Brunello di Montalcino. There are notable parallels between Tuscan Sangiovese and Piedmontese Nebbiolo: for over 150 years, these two indigenous wine varieties have produced some of Italy's most distinctive wines, known for their uniqueness, history, and prestige. The parish church, or "pieve," of Santa Restituta is located within the property and gives its name to the winery, which has been making wine since the 12th century. Pieve Santa Restituta produces three Brunello di Montalcino wines: Renina, Sugerille, and Brunello di Montalcino.
A wine with an intense ruby-red color. The nose is expressive, with notes of cherries, forest fruits, aromatic herbs, and juniper. On the palate, the wine combines an expressive level of acidity, ripe tannins, a rich structure, and a lingering finish.
