Glenfarclas 15 YO 0.7
Description
With greater complexity than the younger Glenfarclas, this is a great whisky for those who drink it. It's a family favorite. In 2007, Jim Murray, in his 2007 Whisky Bible, gave Glenfarclas 15 YO 95 points out of a possible 100, one of the highest ratings he has ever given.
Nose: Complex, sherry nose, delicious peaty undertone, light caramel aromas, with hints of dried fruit.
Taste: Full-bodied with an excellent balance of sherry sweetness, malty tones and peaty flavors.
Finish: Long, with a brilliant sensation of sherry, sweetness and delicate smoke, distinctive.
Located in the heart of Speyside, at the foot of the heather-covered Ben Rinnes mountain, the Glenfarclas distillery is surrounded by lush green lawns and fertile fields. Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining independent distilleries that are still privately family-owned. Translated from Celtic, the name Glenfarclas means "Valley of the green grass", but this hardly tells you much about what to expect from this remarkable brand of Scottish single malt whisky.
