Description
Fattoria La Massa is idyllically located in the Conca d'Oro, in the Chianti Classico hills of Panzano. Giampaolo Motta has been the owner since 1992. He is originally from Naples and spent a lot of time in Bordeaux. La Massa's vineyards are situated at an altitude of 315 to 460 meters above sea level. 27 of the 45 hectares are planted with vines. Following extensive studies over the past ten years, the vineyards have been completely restructured, taking into account soil specifics, geography, and microclimate. The most important varieties are the classic Tuscan Sangiovese and typical Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Giampaolo is a passionate admirer of the great wines of Bordeaux and is convinced of the great potential of these varieties in La Massa's terroir.
Intense ruby red color with a black core. Complex bouquet of blackberries and blackcurrants on the nose, notes of dark black cherry, violets, and spicy nuances with a delicate vanilla hint. Complex and very elegant on the palate, rich fruit flavors, perfect balance, opens with subtle, well-integrated tannins, dark berries in the long finish. A great pleasure!
