Description

Our history dates back to 1840, when Don Felipe de la Mata, VIII Marquis de Vargas, decided to plant the first vineyards on the Hacienda Pradolagar estate. Marqués de Vargas began with a philosophy inspired by French châteaux, exclusively producing premium Reserva and Gran Reserva wines using grapes from their own vineyards next to the winery.

A wine from the estate that faithfully reflects the individuality of a historic estate. It combines the elegance of our Tempranillo 80%, the density and generosity of Garnacha 15%, with a hint of freshness from Mazuelo 5%. Using only sustainable agricultural methods, Marqués de Vargas Reserva is produced with grapes from 52 hectares of its own vineyards.

After a thorough and careful selection of the best grapes in the vineyard itself, the bunches enter cold storage within minutes of being hand-picked into 12 kg boxes. There they remain overnight at a constant temperature of 6-8 ° C. The wine then ages for 23 months in French oak barrels, selected from the best coopers.

An elegant and complex wine, an excellent example of Rioja. The bouquet has an elegant fruity character with well-integrated woody notes. Fresh and fruity on the palate, the tannins are soft and perfectly synchronized. Prolonged finish. It combines the elegance of our Tempranillo, the density and generosity of Garnacha and the freshness of Mazuelo.
