As one of the most sophisticated representatives of the Metaxa brand family, 5 stars embodies the refinement and mystique of the Greek land.
Inspired by the ancient Greek amphora, the exquisite bottle houses the finest wine distillates from the winery, aged for seven years in oak barrels, mixed with old and aromatic Muscat wines from the Aegean islands of Samos and Limnos, and spiced with the brand's secret recipe—a mix of Mediterranean botanicals and rose petals.
Immediately upon opening a bottle of Metaxa 5 Stars, a delicate aroma of Muscat and oak greets us, followed by sweet vanilla and spicy notes.
About Metaxa's technology
Everyone who has tasted Metaxa can't stop talking about it. A little-known fact, however, is that the production technology of the brand's products is not exactly that of brandy. In fact, to be precise, they do not belong to any category of alcoholic beverages. This certainly should not bother you, because the small technological differences in the production of this brand's products only add natural taste and aroma.
Metaxa is now produced in a high-tech distillery in Kifissia, Athens, following Spiros Metaxas' old recipe step by step. The base wine for distillation is produced from the Savatiano grape variety, which is also the base for the traditional Greek table wine Retsina. Other varieties used include Sultanina and Black Corinth, which are dessert, seedless grapes primarily used for raisins. Each grape variety is approached individually.
