Description

Domaine Hubert Lignier has long been celebrated for refined wines, noted for their concentration, depth, and structure. We had the distinct good fortune to begin our relationship as US importer for this estate with the 1978 vintage. At that time, Hubert Lignier bottled small quantities of two different cuvées of Morey St. Denis (an appellation bottling and the 1er Cru "Vieilles Vignes") as well as the legendary Clos de la Roche. As our relationship progressed, more and more of the secrets of the cellar found their way into bottles rather than being sold off to negociants. Now, all the wines of the domaine are bottled under their own label. Hubert's son, Laurent, is the next generation of this proud estate and follows his father's traditional practices to ensure that the treasures that come from the impressive family vineyards continue to display the very best of their respective appellations.

Morey St. Denis Trilogie comes from vines planted in 1936, 1942, 1964, 1972. Area: 1 ha on three climats: Chenevery (60%), Clos Solon (15%), Porroux (25%)

These three plots, located north-south of the village, on the edge of the 1er growths, give low yields (average 30 hl/ha) given the age of the vines.

The wines are often floral and meaty, with good density. You have to wait several years to appreciate them fully. They can also be kept for more than 20 years.
