Description
Based on the rocky coast of County Antrim, Bushmills is home to Ireland's oldest whiskey distillery. The first official documents date back to 1680, the year the region was granted a distillation license. 400 years later, thanks to the experience and craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, whiskey is still made in Bushmills. The water, sourced from the River Bush, flows over basalt rocks – the same rocks that give a unique character to another local attraction – the Giant's Causeway. The barrels selected for aging the whiskey are of fundamental importance. They are selected by chosen coopers in Spain, Portugal, and America. Once they arrive at the brand's Old Distillery, Bushmills masters inspect each barrel before filling it with the amber liquid and leaving it to age. This way, the barrels give the premium whiskey a rich, smooth, and distinctive taste.
