Korten wine cellar is created in the eponymous boutique cellar. The winery is known for its micro-vinification methods and its iconic red wines.
It has the most modern equipment from leading world manufacturers. This allows the combination of traditions with the most modern wine practices in the production of high class boutique wines.
Corten Cellar has a base of 2,300 American and French barrels - a prerequisite for vinification and production of premium wines, in which batches of different vintages are aged.
Technology
The work of oenologists is based on the methods used in France for the production of small batches of limited wines, as well as those in the style of "vin de garage". This gives a unique character to the wines from each harvest. For this purpose, they focus on in-depth work in the vineyard and entirely manual methods of vinification. The grapes they select are from selected and controlled vineyards in the region, harvested by hand and vinified in small oak fermenters up to 500 l, as well as in small stainless steel vessels - 960 l. All activities important for the quality of wine, such as immersion of the cap and pressing in a basket press are performed manually by the experienced technological team.
The team
The entire activity of vineyard management and wine making is led by one of the most prominent Bulgarian oenologists - Kapka Georgieva and Rosen Georgiev. Their work as a team started when together they began to study the quality of individual plots and to experiment with small volumes, following all the important rules for the production of premium wines. They are very pleasantly surprised by the results when they taste them. From then until today, they continue to work together in search of absolute finesse and harmony in every detail of the taste of the wines they create.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the team and the winery is based on the belief that the creation of "great wines" starts from the vineyard. Work in the vineyards is the most important element in an already established technology. Today, the opportunities for innovation and improvement of technology are almost exhausted from a scientific, technical and technological point of view, and therefore the gaze of the modern winemaker is increasingly focused on the vineyard. The most basic steps on the way to creating a "great wine" are the regulation of yield, strength of growth, leaf mass and compliance of all these elements with the year and moisture storage. All this is embedded in their work in making Corten wines.
The character of Korten wines is based on the harmonious connection of man with nature. The aspiration of the winemakers is to use as much as possible the natural processes in order to obtain authentic and natural wines with bright variety and manifestation of the terroir, in which all their experience, philosophy and author's handwriting are embedded. These are wines that offer connoisseurs an exciting experience for the senses with their strong individuality and huge potential for development over time.
