Wine is the only drink in today's world whose business card is the place where the grapes grew.
Zelanos Wine Cellar is the realized long-term dream of its owner Reni Slavova. The winery is located in the village of Slavyantsi, in the wine region of the Valley of Roses. Apart from being known all over the world for the highest quality rose oil, this is the kingdom of Muscat: a delicate, fragrant, typical Bulgarian variety, with flavors reminiscent of white flowers, green apple and citrus.
One look at the label is enough to know the name of the vineyard, the village or at least the country of origin of the grapes. The nature of Zelanos wines is encoded in the tracking of this business card. At the heart of everything are their own vineyards. The local unique Muscat variety, Zelanos wine cellar produces the classic Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Franc from 70 hectares of own vineyards. Carefully selected places for the vineyards are the basis of the taste and quality of the wine.
Terroir
The terroir of the village of Slavyantsi (the combination of soil and natural conditions that give the character of the wine) is draining and sandy, as these are the perfect conditions to give elegance and mineral finesse to the wines. In addition to Muscat, the winery produces the classic Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Franc from 70 hectares of its own vineyards. The wines are presented in two series - premium series Zelanos and super-premium series 'Z'. The annual output is currently about 100,000 bottles. The first harvest is 2014.
Grapes
The grapes are picked entirely by hand, and then manually sorted grain by grain on special sorting tables, as is the practice in the elite French chateaux. The winery is equipped with the latest technology, and this, combined with generous handicrafts, makes it modern in the best sense of the word. The wines are extremely tender, elegant and accurately reflect the character of the place where the grapes were picked.
Growing
We believe that the philosophy of really good wine is to be natural, to touch you with the culture of the place, and to give you the opportunity to taste the earth in a unique way. The secret of really good wine is a matter of balance. Balance is a natural state that can only be achieved in the vineyard and not in the winery. In order for our wines to sound real, we minimally interfere with the natural course of nature.
