Courvoisier

Napoleon's cognac

Legend has it that in 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte visited the warehouses of Courvoisier, run by Emmanuel Courvoisier and his collaborator Louis Galois. The French leader later took several barrels of cognac with him during his exile on the island of St. Helena. The English officers on his ship liked cognac so much that they called it "Napoleon's Cognac."

Napoleon III cemented Courvoisier's reputation as the best cognac available by giving cognac the title of "Official Supplier of the Imperial Court" in 1869.

Currently, the brand is one of the leading cognac houses in the world and continues to excel in the category of spirits with its famous blends, including VS, VSOP, Exclusif, Napoleon, XO, Initiale Extra, Millennium, etc.
