The Dalmore Logo

Dalmore

The Dalmore has always set the highest standards in whiskey production.

Dalmore's legacy dates back to 1263. In that year, Colin of Kintele, the ancestor of the Mackenzie clan, saved King Alexander III from the rage of a deer. In recognition of this noble act, the king granted the Mackenzie clan the right to use the royal deer emblem from its coat of arms.

A pioneer in the art of cupping barrels, Master Distiller Richard Patterson has been the creative force behind The Dalmore for nearly five decades. Inspired by the vision of The Dalmore founder Sir Alexander Matheson and the Mackenzie achievements that came before him, Richard is known worldwide for his passion for whiskey and innovation.

During these 50 years, Richard Patterson has been on a mission to expand the boundaries of what is possible in the production of whiskey and the art of curating barrels. His unparalleled experience and knowledge of rare barrels created truly iconic, innovative whiskeys from The Dalmore that set the standard in Single Malt Whiskey.

The royal deer

When the clan's descendants became owners of The Dalmore Distillery in 1867, the royal deer became the recognizable icon that proudly adorns every bottle of The Dalmore today; an emblem that encapsulates a rich past while embodying the promise that The Dalmore will remain on top of single malt whiskeys.

Exceptional barrels

At The Dalmore, we continue a centuries-old legacy that preserves the sanctity of the barrel. Our precious whiskey is aged in exclusive barrels, personally selected by Richard Patterson, who is a Master Distiller, and produced by the world's best wineries.

Our legendary whiskey

To create a more complex character, some of our whiskeys are aged for several more years in additional barrels. Each barrel we choose must be of impeccable quality and hand-picked for the production of our renowned malt whiskey.
