Plantation rum is unique in the world of spirits. They begin their lives as the best distillate from different parts of the Caribbean is loaded into ex-bourbon barrels (American oak) and matured in its "youth" in a tropical climate. This is followed by a refining journey across the Atlantic to Europe, where the Roma are transferred to French oak barrels and the Roma reach maturity in a temperate, continental climate. The result is a complex, juicy, multi-layered rum that you won't find anywhere else.
