Alexandra Estate Wine Cellar

Alexandra Estate

What distinguishes Alexandra Estate in the cultivation of vineyards are the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture.

The beginning of Alexandra Estate wine cellar was set in 2012 with the purchase of 200 acres of first-class vineyards in the Sakar region, which has proven to be one of the most famous wine regions in Bulgaria.

In 2013, Alexandra Estate expanded with another 100 decares of vineyards in the village of Rakitnitsa, Stara Zagora region, located at 300 m above sea level, and their carbonate soils contribute to the excellent quality of the grapes planted on them. Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillon will bear their first fruit in 2016.

Own French barrels with a capacity of 225 liters and 300 liters were used for vinification. All wines are fermented and aged in barrels, and even the rosette is partially fermented in French oak. Proven specialists work for Alexandra Estate: the cultivation of the vineyards is entrusted to Atanas Shiderov and Eric Moreau. Alexander Velyanov and Thierry Haberer take care of the vinification and creation of the blends.

Vineyards

The vineyards of Alexandra Estate in the village of Oreshets, Harmanli region are in their first year of fruiting, when they attract the attention of experts, and their proximity to 100 years of oak forest and their location at the foot of the Eastern Rhodopes contributes even more to their choice.

Climate and terroir

The exposure of the vineyards is north. This allows the grapes to retain good acids even in this region with a normally hot climate.

Grape varieties

The varieties that are included in the wines of the estate are: Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Marsan, Rusan, Semillon and Viognier.
