Orbelia
Our idea is to create high quality wines from the traditional grape varieties of the region, trying to preserve the old wine traditions in the region, which date back to Thracian times. For this purpose we pay special attention to the grapes that we obtain from our own vineyards in the region of Petrich and the technologies by which we produce our wines.
Orbelia is a family winery founded by Kostadin Chorbadjiiski and his family. It is located at the foot of Belasitsa Mountain, near the village of Kolarovo, 12 km. west of Petrich. Orbelia is the ancient Thracian name of the mountain range and means white, beautiful mountain. The winery opened in 2013 and has modern technological and laboratory equipment and offers excellent conditions for wine tourism and tastings. Some of the wines are aged in French, Bulgarian and American oak barrels.
With love and a lot of attention we grow the traditional for the region red varieties: Shiroka Melnik vine, Early Melnik vine, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and white varieties: Sandanski Muscat, Chardonnay, Muscat Otonel.
Vineyards
Orbelia Winery has more than 120 decares of its own vineyards in the area of the villages of Mitino and Starchevo in the municipality of Petrich.
Terroir
Our vineyards are planted on cinnamon forest, deluvial and alluvial-meadow soils, which provide excellent conditions for their development. They are located in the lands of the villages of Mitinovo and Starchevo.
Climate
Petrich-Sandansko field is the sunniest and warmest Bulgarian region, with a rich history and beautiful nature, a region where viticulture has millennial traditions.
