Grapes
VIDA's vineyards are located near the village of Gradets, Vidin region, about 15 km from the Danube River. The vineyards cover an area of 65 acres. The nine main grape varieties grown are Gamza, Muscat, Riesling, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenère, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Pinot Noir.
Terroir
The lands between Belogradchik and Vidin, along the Danube River, are famous for their deep traditions in viticulture and winemaking since the time of the Thracians. It is a very magical place, with a unique spirit and many unexplored micro-areas with huge potential for development. The conditions are relatively harsh, but the soils are very favourable - composed of black earth, sand and flint. The weathering of the Belogradchik rocks has led to the accumulation of minerals in the soils over the years. With the right attitude and a lot of patience, harmonious terroir wines are produced.
Climate
The region is blessed with unique climatic and topographic conditions. The climate in the village of Gradets and the region is temperate-continental. Average July temperatures are around 20°C and average January temperatures around 0°C. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 125 metres above sea level, which allows the vineyards to develop their unique character. North-westerly winds prevail in summer and north-easterly winds in winter.
