VIDA Estates
VIDA ESTATES is a project with the idea of presenting different terroir features from Central and Eastern Europe. The wine experts of VIDA Wine & Spirits constantly strive to discover exceptional wines that meet the VIDA standards of a clean taste profile and minimal human intervention with sustainable practices and methods that do not pollute nature. Each wine carries the spirit and traditions of its region.
The wineries which are included in the project are:
- Via Verde Struma River Valley, Southwest Bulgaria. A young wine project, which has as its focus a complete lifestyle. Every part of their winemaking is in balance with nature. They develop local varieties to be able to show their pure varietal expression.
- Borovitza An iconic winery at the foot of the Belogradchik rocks. A region with a long history of winemaking, favoured by cool air from the mountains and soils composed of minerals and iron. The temperature amplitudes between day and night allow the grapes to rest during the cool nights and develop an intense aromatic profile, retaining their freshness. The vineyards in the “Lipitsa” vineyard are 50-60 years old and have an excellent location - close to the Danube.
- Manastira – a Bulgarian winery known for its full-bodied red wines, which must be aged in oak barrels before they are released on the market. Located in the village of Lesichevo, in a deep valley surrounded by the slopes of Sredna Gora. The name of the winery derives from a monastery with a miraculous icon, which was located in the region, but was burned by the Turks. Thus, each wine carries the spirit of Bulgarian history and traditions, the series bear the names Thrace, Iber, Ilaya, etc.
- Salla Estate – The village of Blaskovo, Provadia; 60 km from Varna. The winery is located on ancient Thracian land, where wine auctions were organized in the 4th century BC. An interesting fact is that next to the winery there is a horse base. One of the oldest horse breeds in Europe, the Lipizzaner, is farmed there.
- Domeniile Averesti – The winery is located in northeastern Romania, in the Huşi region, which has a thousand-year history. The vineyards are favoured by the high altitude, cool climate and acidic wooded soil. The focus of production is on old aromatic local varieties.
- Kristancic – The winery is located in western Slovenia, in the village of Medana, Goriška Brda region, on the border with Italy. In every step of winemaking, nature is observed and the cycle of life is followed. An interesting fact is that beautiful peacocks live freely in the winery.
