Description
The oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland
Founded on the rocky coast of Antrim County, Bushmills is home to the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland. The first official documents date from 1680, the year in which the license for distillation of the region was issued. 400 years later, thanks to the experience and craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, whiskey is still made in Bushmills. We can't make whiskey anywhere but here. Our water, extracted from the Bush River, flows over basalt rocks, the same ones that give a unique character to another local attraction - the Path of the Giants. The barrels we choose for aging our whiskey are also essential, so we select them from selected coopers in Spain, Portugal and America. Once delivered to the Old Bushmills Distillery, our craftsmen inspect each barrel before filling it and letting it mature. Thus, the barrels convey the rich, soft and characteristic taste of our whiskey.
