Sir Earnest Henry Shackleton was an Irish explorer of Antarctica. In 1907 he sailed on his sihp "Nimrod" to lead his first expedition. To boost the team spirit, sir Earnest Shackleton personally ordered 25 boxes of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt. With these he wanted to celebrate each birthday and occasion, associated with the crew's relatives, because they will be away from them for a long time.
In 2007, a century after the "Nimrod" expedition, were found a couple of perfectly preserved bottles of this whisky, frozen in the ice under the base camp of Shackleton in Cape Royds. The world-famous Master Blender, Richard Patterson, made a wide analysis, to recreate this antique whisky. He used what he found as basis to create Shackleton - a modern blended malt with ice in its DNA.

Aroma: Vanilla, brioche, ginger, jam and cinnamon;
Taste: Dried fruits, pineapple, ginger. A memorable finish with notes of crème brûlée, dark caramel and gentle smoke.
