“Masseto, произвеждано от Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, може да се каже, че е едно от най-търсените вина от сорта Мерло в света. То произхожда от един от най-прочутите италиански парцели от 7 хектара с Мерло в Болгери на тосканския бряг, където лозите растат върху възвишение от плиоценска глина (идеална за Мерло и не се среща другаде в Болгери). Първото пълно пускане на пазара е през 1987 г., въпреки че има частично пускане през 1986 г., и бързо се превръща в култово вино, почитано от колекционерите.
Made in tiny quantities. Despite having only debuted back in 1986, Masseto has almost taken on the mystique we see with the likes of Ch. Petrus – rare, expensive, ground breaking and much sought after. Total production is circa. 2500 cases.

Description

Grape Variety: Merlot.
Colour: Ruby red color and nuances of garnet.
Aroma: The nose denotes intense and pleasing aromas which start with hints of black cherry, plum and violet followed by aromas of blueberry, blackberry and raspberry.
Taste: The mouth has good correspondence to the nose, a slightly tannic attack and however balanced by alcohol, good body, intense flavors. The finish is persistent with flavors of black cherry, plum and blackberry.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C with minimum 1 hour decanting before serving.

Food pairing

Beef, sirloin steak, stewed vegetables...

It combines very well with sirloin steaks and other grilled beef, stews of vegetables, game and aged cheeses.
