We like to say that there is no bad whiskey, but there are some criteria, competitions and tastings and experts, which classify this drink, the producers and the taste.

After the end of every year, the whiskey industry presents interesting numbers and not-so-boring statistics.

Sometimes these numbers present purchased and produced bottles, other times - interesting statistics.

The last 2 years, 2019 and 2020 continue the reign of whiskey coming from... India.

You have read that right! Don't be surprised why this whiskey is number one in terms of sales. In the last years, 13 out of 25 of the best sold brands have been Indian, with McDowell's being the most wanted one, with 30 million 9-litre barrels being sold.

The famous red walker takes the 5th position Johnnie Walker with "only" 18 million 9-litre barrels sold, followed by the american giant Jack Daniel'sTop 25 include also Jim Beam, Jameson, Crown Royal, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, Suntory, Dewar’s, Famous Grousetaking in mind all of these whiskeys are blend, considering their price. The high numbers are understandable, as the Indian market is huge and the low price of the whiskey. We cannot comment on the quality, since we have never tried it, but we will not decline a sip or two.

One of our favorite rankings is the consummation of whiskey per person. The French win, with 2.1l. pp, while Uruguay win with 1.77l. pp, followed by the Americans, Spanish and Austrians. Strange, but a fact.

After all scotch is the most popular whiskey with the biggest world export. In the last year, with roughly 36 bottles in over 166 countries. That makes 1.14 billion bottles. If we add these bottles next to each other, we will be able to cover 90% of the way to the moon. We will add some of our finished bottles from last year, in order to land to the moon!

Whiskey export brings Scotland roughly 3.8 billion pounds annually. Who said that the world is sober?
France is the biggest whiskey importer - above 48 million litres, followed by India and the US. The others in top positions are Japan, Spain and Mexico.

Right now, more than 10 000 people work directly in the whiskey industry with over 40 000 working in the supporting industries.

More than 2.2 million tourists visits Scotland, because of the barley drink and the industry is 2nd in the country.
