Description

Variety: Zweigelt
Color: Purple
Aroma and taste: Aromas of spicy cherries, fresh red fruits, dried herbs, juniper and eucalypt. Dense, with invigorating fruitiness, lean structure, ripe tannins and long elegant finish.
Ageing: You can enjoy this wine combined with food immediately, but ageing in a bottle for the next 3-4 years will not harm it either.
Serving temperature: 14-16 °C

Additional notes

The Zweigelt variety is a cross between Blaufrenkisch and Saint Laurent. It was founded in 1922 by Dr. Zweigelt, whose name it still bears today. It is produced in many different styles - from elegant, young wines with a delicate aroma of cherries to complex, spicy wines, often aged in oak barrels.
Terroir: The fruits for this wine come from the plots facing south of Reid Neusatz with an altitude of between 180 and 200 m. Here they collect enough sunlight to ensure the full maturation of aromas and tannins.
Classification:
The area of 275 hectares of Fölikberg is covered mainly with calcareous chernozem, which has a high amount of clay. Zweigelt grows extremely well on its northern and eastern slopes. The Kolvenz winery owns 8.73 hectares of Fölkberg's land, of which only 0.46 hectares are used for viticulture.
The vines are located on slopes with eastern exposure and at a height of 180 to 210 m. Dry agriculture is used.
The grapes are picked by hand, carefully selected.
Aged for six months in large and small barrels.
